THE GIANTS WIN THE WORLD SERIES!! THE GIANTS WIN THE WORLD SERIES!!! THE GIANTS WIN THE WORLD SERIES!!!!
The San Francisco Giants won the World Series on November 1, 2010. It was the first time they won the series since 1954. Folks, that is a loooooooooooooooooooooong dry spell. Made even worse by the embarrassment of the 2002 World Series, in which the Giants COULD HAVE WON in Game 6 when they were up 8-0 in the 8th inning. And then proceeded to lose the game.
Embarrassing. Humiliating. Shameful.
But we're back on top! Giants fans finally have something to be proud of again! All those years of torture have finally paid off!
Soooo, I kinda like baseball. And by "kinda like," I mean I am an obsessed and avid fan. I will admit, I haven't paid as close of attention in the past few years, but I blame that on living in the Nascar belt of America. Instead of baseball games on TV, there were Nascar races. And football. And they would play high school football over baseball on the radio. I might as well have been living in a foreign country! But prior to 2007, I was a super fan. I could tell you the stats and rankings of pretty much any team in the NL. I was also super spoiled living in Berkeley for two years. The dad of a friend of mine had season tickets to the Giants through his company, so we went numerous times and had spectacular seats right behind home plate. I met my parents for games a few times, went with some other folks a few times, and it was NEVER hard to find the Giants on our crappy local cable. I was in heaven for those 2 years. And even though we don't have TV and they don't carry the Giants on our local station anymore (darn you, A's fans!) I am glad to be back in Northern California where Giants fans are plentiful and loyal.
Only 139 days til Opening Day 2011! And it sure feels good to finally be a fan of a winning team! :)
Also, if you have checked this out, you should. Further proof that I am meant to love both Journey and the Giants.
