Day 5: Miss Scarlet

Here's my confession: I'm usually the person who says "Blue is my favorite color." But I don't really mean it.

Yes, blue is a lovely color. It is calming, soothing, relaxing, and it is pretty. I've always been naturally drawn to blue, but I don't think it's really my favorite color. I think it just has a calming effect (affect?) on my anxiety-prone self.

The thing is, I also enjoy the color green, for pretty much the same reason. Darker greens draw me in and relax me, while brighter greens tend to perk me up with their spark of color. I can't wear any light/bright version of any color, unfortunately, but I can certainly enjoy it from a distance! Green/Red/Orange/Brown definitely fall into this category. I have a "jewel tone" rule for most colors that I wear.

And I also have this thing with the color red...in my home. And with shoes. I don't wear red very often, but red shoes draw me like a moth to a flame. I'm still on the hunt for the perfect pair of red heels...if you know where I might find some, please let me know! The pair I bought for like $20 at Payless Shoe Source 3 years ago are finally wearing down, and that makes me a sad panda! ANYWAY. If I had it my way (and Clint certainly won't let that happen), I would have dark red curtains with red pillows to match and all sorts of fun red accents in our living room. I would have a red brick hearth for the wood stove. And I would have a dark red kitchen with all red accents (okay, I have a pretty good chance of this one happening).

But actually, as I see it, our living room is mostly darker greens and blacks, our kitchen is full of those red accents, and our bedroom has the relaxing blue accents...all very relaxing.

I've got it pretty good for our thrown-together-newlywed-stuff "home," don't I?
