I think we should get one thing straight right away, under no circumstances will I ever walk down the aisle to "Here Comes the Bride." I learned today, however, that the actual title of that song is "The Bridal Chorus" from Wagner's opera, Lohengrin. No idea how it became so popularly used in weddings. Personally, I think it's atrocious. And apparently my mother does not. See also: Genuinely appalled mother's response to daughter not walking down the aisle to "Here Comes the Bride."
So far, these are the potential songs that I have come up with as far as the ceremony is concerned. It's all instrumental and classical, mostly because I don't want any singing going on. And if we were to have songs with lyrics, I would definitely want nontraditional ones...which are not allowed.

So that's the musical selection up to this point. It's all fairly churchy, so it shouldn't be a problem getting it approved by the priest. My only concern is whether our yet-to-be-selected organist will feel comfortable performing these selections. My mother, who sees the woman we would like to have as our organist roughly twice a week, refuses to ask her because that is "my job." I never see this woman. In fact, I haven't seen her in roughly three years. But I did recently mention to my mom the option of having a boom box (hello, 1992) hooked up to the church soundsystem to play recordings of the music we want. Considering the reaction I got from that one, I think she might be more inclined to ask the organist now.
Check out the selections and let me know what you think...and suggestions are always welcome!

I can't listen to the options yet because there's a noisy small person next to me but for the record I sooooo liked the Brian Crane idea! :D
