I never thought I would have this much trouble picking out wedding music. Not for the ceremony, obviously, but for the reception. The First Dance songs, the schedule of the dancing at the reception, etc. It's a lot more difficult than I thought it would be. I am currently trying to pick a song for my dad and I to dance to...it doesn't help that I am super indecisive. I have four choices at this point in time, and I think I am going to leave the final decision up to him. None of the songs are very sappy, or typical "father-daughter" dance songs, but I think they will be enjoyable to not only us, but the crowd as well. So far:
"Tuxedo Junction"-Glenn Miller

"A String of Pearls"-Glenn Miller

"What a Wonderful World"-Louis Armstrong

"My Girl"-The Temptations

Now, for many years I have wanted to dance to "What a Wonderful World" with my father, but I recently discovered that is a very popular choice. And I don't want to do something that is a popular choice, I want ours to be different. It is still on the list, however, in case my dad prefers it. If he does, I'm taking that as a sign that it was meant to be. We are big Glenn Miller fans in my family, and I think that would be something different and special to dance to as well. Basically, I'm at a loss.
Another thing to consider is the length of the First Dances. Personally, I find it very boring when I am at a wedding and there is a dance for the Bride and Groom, the Father and Daughter, the Groom and Mother, etc. I think it would be kind of neat for the Father/Daughter and Groom/Mother dance to be going on at the same time. I could start it off with my dad, then Clint and his mom could join, then the rest of our immediate family could join in (Jess and my mom, Cole and Jennifer, Amy and her Dad). In my mind, this could be pretty fantastic, but I want to get some feedback from everyone else before I broach this subject to the families. If we decided to do that, I would stick to something neutral like Glenn Miller.
What do you think?

i like the idea of all the family joining in, and a song like "my girl" would work for all of those situations. but it could get confusing and other people might think they could join in and dance too. or you could make a dance remix song where you and your dad start off with one, it remixes into another for clint and his mom to join, etc. etc
