Okay, so I slacked off on my "thankfuls" for the last few days of November, but I'm pretty sure they were starting to get redundant. So here we are now, December 3rd, and we are well into the Christmas season here at the Singleton household!
Fun fact, I have never actually gone Christmas Tree Hunting, and today was my first time! When I was younger, my Dad and brothers went Christmas Tree cutting with the Boy Scouts in November and I'm pretty sure the last thing my Dad wanted to do was drag his wife and three kids back out into the snow in December to do it all again. Besides, with four birthdays between Thanksgiving and Christmas, our family had a fairly busy holiday season without finding a Christmas Tree. And another added benefit to buying our tree from the Boy Scouts, Dad had first dibs on the best trees and flagged ours before they went on sale. Maybe that was a secret I wasn't supposed to tell to the entire world, but I guess I just did! Sorry, Dad!
In stark contrast to my childhood Christmas Tree experience, Clint's family always went up and made a whole day of snowy fun, including a campfire, sledding, and hot chocolate. Oh, and snow mobiles. I feel that is a pretty important detail to include. So this year, I decided I really wanted to have that experience...minus the sledding and the campfire and the snow mobiles. Good ol' fashion Christmas Tree Hunting, up in the mountains and the snow and GETTING TO PICK IT OUT OF A MILLION OTHER TREES! WOO!
Surprisingly, it only took us about an hour to find the perfect tree, and we both immediately agreed without any argument. I guess that is probably the most surprising part! We have a similar preference for tree types, which worked in our favor, but I'm still taking this as a small victory in being married for 1.5 years! We brought it home, put it in the stand, and I got to work stringing the lights, popcorn, and beaded garland. In Clint's defense, he was up from 12:30-8:00 am on a structure fire, didn't go back to bed, and really needed a nap. And I was feeling overly kind.
So there you have it. The Christmas update from the Singletons! We also have our chandelier and table decorated, my homemade wreath hanging on the door, and the stockings hanging (unfortunately, not by the chimney with care)! And Clark Griswold visited our home last week to put up the outside lights, so we're all set there, too.
Sending lots of love and cheer to you and yours!
