Ghost of 4th of July's Past: 2012

I spent the 4th of July this year, 2012, with my dad, Jess, and Cousin Jake, grilling up tri-tip and enjoying being together.  Clint was on overtime with CalFire, so he wasn't able to join in the fun, but we had a good time in his honor.

We were able to celebrate the holiday at Jess's house this year, my grandma's old place, which was full of memories in its own right.  And instead of sitting on the roof of the woodshed like we did when we were kids, we graduated to the roof of the red barn.  Me, Jess, Cousin Jake, and our friends Christy and Jason, all watched the fireworks from Yreka and listened to the most patriotic songs we could think of.  No Lee Greenwood, unfortunately (I was vetoed on that one) but I can honestly say it doesn't get much better than sitting on the roof of a barn, watching fireworks and shooting stars, and listening to "Wagon Wheel."  Americana.

Life is good.  Happy Independence Day!
