I am fluent in metaphor

Isn't it funny how just when you think you have everything figured out, life throws you a curve ball? Sometimes the curve ball isn't what you'd hoped for and you hit foul ball after foul ball trying to get it right. Or, even worse, you strike out and have to sit out the inning until your turn comes around again. But, in the best case scenario, you take that curve ball and turn it into something amazing. Home run? Grand Slam? Heck, I think most of us would be satisfied with a base hit. Except if you get a base hit, you are forced to rely on your teammates to take whatever life throws THEM and turn it into something amazing.

Aren't metaphors awesome?

Basically, what I'm trying to say in a very inarticulate and long-winded manner is this: As often as crappy and unexpected things get thrown our direction, it is nice when something good comes around. And sometimes you have to turn the crappy and unexpected things into something good, because let's face it, life isn't easy. And sorting out the curve balls from the strikes isn't easy, either.

But in the end, it is with the support of our team that gets us to that home run. Or better yet, a Grand Slam. What good is a single homer in the bottom of the ninth when your down by 3? Yeah, you can hope the next guy will hit a home run, too, but the odds of that happening are slim. Baby steps, base hits, and in the end, it'll all work out.
