Winds of change.

Reminds me of that song by the Scorpions from 1991. Good jam, Check it out, folks.

I have always had a bit of an issue with the saying “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain.” I’m not exactly sure why I don’t like it, the essence of it is a nice idea, but I think it’s just overused. Coming from someone who is all about clichés, that’s a pretty big statement. And also, I love storms, and I love dancing in the rain. But that sure hasn’t helped me handle hard times and situations in my life.

So, in the spirit of finding new inspirational quotes with similar meanings, I think I found one that hit home for me this week. I wrote a piece last week that I didn’t post because I just couldn’t find the right words to complete it, and this morning I found this little gem:

We must free ourselves of the hope
that the sea will ever rest.
We must learn to sail in high winds.
- Aristotle Onassis

Pretty much exactly what I was trying to say last week, but more eloquently and with way better imagery.

So there you have it, the words I couldn’t find within myself last week, waiting expectantly for me to read them this morning. I think 2012 is off to a pretty good start, and while I’m not hoping for the sea to rest, I’m hoping for some changes in the direction of those high winds.
